My car got mushed today. There’s a new apartment building going in next to mine and they use the back of our parking lot for part of their storage. Today, a forklift with a couple of slabs of cement on it nailed my parked car. Not sure what’s going to happen yet but everyone that’s seen it says it’s a write-off. This really sucks. If they write it off I won’t have enough left to buy a decent car, I still have a loan on this one for a couple of years yet. I only needed my car for a couple or so more years and it is(was) in awesome condition with only 42,000 km on it but it’s 5 years old.
Do I really need these things to happen to me that always seem to be the “go big” in the saying “go big or go home”? For once I’d like to just go home.

last day of work
Yesterday was my last day at work. So exciting and depressing all at the same time.
Everyone secretly wants to leave a positive mark on other people’s live when they are no longer here and I feel like I may have just done that at work. I felt really special and like I truly mattered yesterday and I’ll carry that with me always.
Thank you.
disability/early retirement
After months of considering it and a month of actually applying for it, my disability claim is going to start. My last day of work is this Friday. This was a really hard decision for me to make but I think it’s the right one. No one knows how much time I have left and I really need to spend some of it as if I wasn’t carrying this incurable thing around with me.
I’m anxious about it, of course. It’s another new thing for me to take on, full of unknowns, but it also means far less stress on my mind and body and I won’t be going from work to really sick and resentful, I’ll be going from “retired” to really sick instead.
We’ve told the majority of people at work that I’m retiring. Freedom 55 🙂 So much easier than trying to explain why I’m really leaving. Those that are interested will ask. And I’ll tell them.
