So the ultra sound and bone scan are both negative for cancer. Good. I had 5 lymph nodes removed (mom wanted to know) and a name for the cancer. It’s Invasive Lobular Carcinoma. It’s the 2nd most common breast cancer in women. I asked that since everything is negative, did that mean I didn’t need chemo and radiation. She said no, that because I’m young (I’ve never thought of 48 as being young) and this type of cancer is aggressive that I’ll be having something. Crap. I also asked if I had to see her anymore. She said yes, after I see the oncologist. I didn’t ask why. She’s a surgeon. Usually seeing her means more surgery. I don’t even wanna consider that right now. I see the oncologist next week then everything will fall into place.
One thing I gotta mention….when my sister and I were shopping at Walmart yesterday they had a wall of breast cancer pj’s. You know, pink and white with the pink ribbon. I have found that flannel jammies with buttons on the top are the best. The flannel is soft against the tender parts of me so the incisions and everything don’t get irritated and buttons because I cannot, no matter how hard I try, life things over my head for the first few weeks after surgery. The flannel jammies there were the pullover top type, and polyester for the button type. Who designed this stuff and what were they thinking? They aren’t designed for us people with breast cancer or they’d know better. Flannel jammies designers! With buttons please!
